My program won't download onto the VEX IQ brain

STEP 1: Make sure all VEX IQ components are up-to-date

Our partners at VEX Robotics are continuously improving the VEX IQ products. The best way to ensure that all of the components are functioning properly is to keep them up-to-date. If you're having any problems with the components, please go through the steps located here. If you have any questions about the firmware update, email VEX support at support@vexrobotics.com.

STEP 2: Make sure that Modkit Link is up-to-date and running

Modkit Link is the program that lets Modkit connect with the VEX IQ brain. If you haven't downloaded it already or need the recent version, download it from our website here. Follow the installation instructions, and run the program. Make sure that Modkit Link us running every time you use the Modkit for VEX editor. You'll know that Modkit Link is running, because there will be a small M icon displayed on your computer's toolbar.

STEP 3: Make sure that the VEX IQ brain is connected and powered ON

After you have updated the VEX IQ components and checked Modkit Link, make sure the VEX IQ brain is connected well through its USB cable. Then, with the Modkit for VEX editor open, make sure that the VEX IQ brain is powered ON.

STEP 4: Disconnect and reconnect the VEX IQ brain to the computer

If Modkit still hasn't detected the VEX IQ brain, try to disconnect then reconnect the VEX IQ brain. With the Modkit for VEX editor open, disconnect then reconnect the USB cable to the VEX IQ brain. You should see a message appear in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, indicating that the VEX IQ brain was detected.

STILL HAVING ISSUES?

If you've followed these steps, and are still having issues, you may have a hardware issue. Make sure that the USB port on your computer is functioning properly. Otherwise, email us at support@modkit.com, and we'll work with you one-on-on to get things working.
